The Twits by Roald Dahl

 My impression of this book from looking at the front cover is that it is probably quite a crazy story.

I chose this book without reading the blurb.

I found that the page I read has some funny parts to the story because Mr Twit's beard was full of food.

The author of the book is Roald Dahl. He is from Llandaff, Cardiff, United Kingdom. An award he  has won is the  CableACE Award for International Children's Programming Special or Series, Edgar Award for Best Television Episode Teleplay, World Fantasy Award-Life Achievement and Edgar Award for Best Short Story.

Chapters 1-3

Here are some facts about these chapters. The characters in my book are Mr Twit who is 60. He has a beard.

Mrs Twit has an ugly face and a Glass eye. These chapters are set in their home. Mr Twit never washed his beard. 

The first 3 chapters were introducing the characters in the book.

Chapters 4-8

Chapter 4 is about Mrs Twits glass eye. A glass eye is an artificial eye that you can take in and out of the eye socket. Mrs Twit put her glass eye in the bottom of Mr Twits glass of beer. He did not see it until having the last mouthful of his beer, and it was staring at him from the bottom of the glass. 

Chapter 5.  Mr Twit was angry at Mrs Twit so he thought of a trick to play on her. He put a the frog in Mrs Twit's bed. She felt something really cold and slimy. And she fainted. Mr Twit thinks it's funny.

Chapter 6 - 8.  Time for another trick! Mrs Twit put live worms in Mr Twit's spaghetti. Then Mr Twit made Mrs Twit's walking stick longer, and some of the furniture higher so she thought she was shrinking. 

Chapters 9-12

I think that at the end of the book they might get locked up by the police for being crazy. 

Why did Mr Twit blow up 100 balloons?  He tied them to Mrs Twits body while her feet were attached to the ground so he could go away for a few days and leave her unable to move.

What happened to Mrs Twit? Mr Twit cuts through the rope holding her to the ground, and she floated up into the sky.

How does the book end? 

Mr and Mrs Twit have glue on their heads and they are stuck upside down on the floor.  They can't escape! As they are both so fat the weight of their bodies presses them down onto the floor, starting with their heads. Then the rest of their bodies get the DREADED SHRINKS and all that is left on the floor is their clothes, their shoes, and a walking stick.

Hi, yesterday we were doing Market Day at Hornby High.

We did  really well at Business & Enterprise, we made the profit of $29.50. 

I enjoyed Market Day as I liked working with my friends. We sold Cheesecake, the flavor of the Cheesecake was boysenberry and white chocolate.

Canterbury Earthquake

 4 September 2010 at 4:35 am, 7.1 magnitude earthquake, 11km deep near Darfield.

2 people were seriously injured, 1 died from heart attack but it may have happen without the earthquake.

Over 25,000 people claimed insurance for damage which cost $437 million.

That's a lotta damage!

Semaphore Flags Ft. Teagan (Well, me and Teagan doing the flags together)

 In Science we studied visual communication. We had to choose a method to use ourselves. I choose the visual communication method of semaphore. This is where you use coloured flags to make all the letters of the alphabet. The flags are red and yellow but we made them red and orange as they were the colours we could get.

We went out onto the field and stood about 30 metres apart and used the flags to signal words to each other. We got them all correct.

I really enjoyed learning about Semaphore.

NZ History

Why is learning NZ history important?

Because people want to remember how our country's been made.

We want to remember all the good things.

I will teach other people through DLOs on my blog. I will use easy to read sentences and photos.
