Canterbury Earthquake

 4 September 2010 at 4:35 am, 7.1 magnitude earthquake, 11km deep near Darfield.

2 people were seriously injured, 1 died from heart attack but it may have happen without the earthquake.

Over 25,000 people claimed insurance for damage which cost $437 million.

Canterbury quake in 2010 was the same magnitude and also occurred early  morning | Stuff.co.nz

That's a lotta damage!
